Vegetarian -----Maybank Foodcourt, Bangsar

28 November 2008

Vegetarian @ Maybank Foodcourt, Bangsar

Came back from Cyber by taking KL Transit, quite unfortunate , I met LRT operation disturbance... many commuters had to wait for long hours. I heard that the operation has suspended since moring (sure caused a lot of people late for work).

Luckily for me , after 15 minutes, got one LRT arrived but too packed... caused me to take the other one.My destination....yup...sure Bangsar, to do my all bank transactions...and eat nice vegetarian meal....wahaha

This is my meal for today :

Some long beans, mixed vegetables, and vegetarian Char Siew( BBQ Pork)

Crunchy long beans, sauteed with sliced chilies....simple but marvelous

The mixed vegetables is very nice. It contains mushroom, black fungus, broccoli, sliced carrot, capsicum..............Simmered with a nice rice wine....yup .. rice wine... That's why the vege brings some sweet taste to your tastebud.
Yup, the vegetarian char siew, you sure cant find at anywhere. Not saying that cant find the char siew at other place, but this place char siew is the best .( Note: vegetarian..) .
The vegetarian charsiew has coated with a layer of vegetarian BBQ sauce.... Slight sweet, brings some smoke smell, and not too salty ,....just like the taste of char siew sauce....The appearence , texture and flavour ,gives you the best stisfaction...
Lastly, a meal is perfect with a bowl of tau foo fa..

A homemade tao foo fa, with brown sugar.
The soya taste is quite heavy, but the texture--- when you put a spoon of it into your mouth, the tao fu fa will slip immediately, not too watery, not too hard, but just like a water cube is playing around your mouth......haha........

There a lot of nice dishes to be served too.... There are fried noodles, fried rice too....... I like this vegetarian is because of the freshness, warm dish and not oilly.... All this food is prepared by a nun,.. yup ... by a nun......
Frankly speak, it's not cheap as it costs me around RM 6.80. But for me, it's really worth for the money as you see all the ingrediants which had used are not cheap...So, come to try if you like or you are a vegetarian.

PU YUAN RESTAURANT----FRIED TAPIOCA FLOUR

2 November 2008

PU YUAN RESTAURANT @ OLD KLANG ROAD, KL

After a 4 hours ride from Penang, my stomach sent out alert sound......mmm.... what should I eat?? That's my first question came to my mind......

On the way back home, my parents suggested to try this shop....This shop has been introduced by HOK CHAK , 8TV long ago.. Plus received quite positive review from friends , we decided to have a try...

The shop's specialty is the Hokkien traditional delicacies like fried Hokkien style noodle, fried seasoned steamed pork rice noodle and many more...

So we orderes 2 types of fried noodle for testing...

Fried Seasoned Steamed Pork Beehoon ( RM 13.00 for 2 persons)

The appearance didn't impress me , as can see from the pic.

The taste is moderate, and the point that made me disappointed is the pork. From the taste, we know that it is a canned pork ......as we have made this dish before ......So, quite disappointed....

Fried Tapioca Flour ( RM6.50 for single person)

This is the speacial part of this shop---fried tapioca flour ( direct translate from mandarin).
Many sure ask this question " How can we fry tapioca flour?". That's why it's an attraction of this shop.

The texture is very different from any type of noodles, it's soft, nice to be chewed and ...not gummy...Fried with sliced pork and sauce , this dish's aroma sure entices me right away. A good combination of all ingredients comes out a special dish.....Higly recommend..

Minced Pork Roll (RM6.00)

Quite different texture compared with my grandmum's recipe.. The pork is chopped into tiny pieces , flour is used for sticking all the pork and some carrot, then rolled with pork fat....I know it's quite disgusting for somebody , but this is the traditional way for Hokkien dish...

It's well fried---crispy skin, soft and tender meat plus not too oily.... One word--satisified..

It's quite hard to search for this shop, as it's not facing to the road....

It's situated behind post office, beside a Bak Kut Teh shop....If still can't find it , get some info from local people.....

It's quite expensive for me , RM6.50 for a plate of fried noodle.....but can try the fried tapioca flour as it's rare in KL....even my mom doesn't have any idea of this dish( because she is a typical Hokkien).

FOK SAN DIM SUM -------IPOH

30 November 2008

FOK SAN DIM SUM @ IPOH

I have tried this shop dim sum a lot of time......But during this trip , i have chose to eat again to find back the taste .......

Ya....this shop is famous in Ipoh and out of Ipoh too..... every morning sure will be crowded....especially during festival or public holiday ...So, we have to be patient because we have to wait for vancancy.

At that day , Ivan and I were so lucky , just walked into the shop and found a nice table .... haha....Then for sure, we ordered a pot of chinese tea (a must for eating dim sum ,if not , we cant call it enjoy ). A couple of minutes had gone, there's an aunty coming with a trolley of hot dim sum ...First , we ordered siu mai ( canto)...

Siu Mai
It contains minced pork ... When had a bite ,it can be chewed easily as all tendons had been crushed.... Plus there was no tapioca flour's taste , so it can lead us for second piece...

Har Gau ( Steamed Prawn Dumpling)

If want to eat a delicious Har Gau , it must have a thin flour skin , contains with fresh prawns...

Foh San chef sure has furfilled all this condition... Just a sense of flour taste when it has put into mouth , then slowly chew it, the freshness , crunchy and juicy of prawns will be spreading to whole mouth ......Sure hard to find this kind of Har Gau in KL..

Hong Kong style Cheong Fun

Quite disappointed actually , because it's not warm enough .... But the sauce is not so sweet and blend well with the Cheong Fun....Luckily the prawn is fresh....

Egg Tart

It's not the best egg tart ...but still edible...The puff pastry is crunchy as it was just come out from oven....SO lucky ......

Hur Kok (Char Siu Pastry )
Succulent BBQ pork cooked with sweet sauce ...and embeded in a parcel of yam ....This Hur Kok is well fried as we can hear the sound :" krkk,.. krkk".. when we ate it .....The stuff inside the fried yam ---BBQ pork is not so sweet , which will not cause me to be bored for second one....

Fish Ball
Ivan has ordered this one, he sure likes fish ball very much .......Not too oily , and we can taste the fish meat .....acceptable....
My friend also ordered pau to eat....
All of this cost me about RM 26.14, I can accept it as most of the food are up to standard...
If come to Ipoh, it's a must to drop by here...

BUMBU BALI

15-November-2008

BUMBU BALI @BANDAR PUTERI PUCHONG

On the way back to KL from Cyber , I had passed by Puchong.

Since haven't taken lunch , so my dad suggested Bumbu Bali as he haven't tried it before.

I read a lot of reviews from other blogs like Kampung Boy City Gal , Vkeong.........All highly recommend this shop . Indeed, the food from Bumbu Bali is really tasty as i have tried it before...

The ambience of this place is quite nice with beautiful decorations and peaceful Balinese music.

So this time i ordered Bumbu Kambing....if people like to eat mutton, see this pic , it sure will entice u....

Bumbu Kambing ( RM 20.50++)

It comes with minced mutton , rice , sauteed kangkung and some pineapple cubes, cucumber cubes. The main attraction is the mutton , the mutton is fried with sliced onions , sliced pepper....( see the pic)

The minced mutton is marinated with some lemongrass, i think , and their own recipes, so it is tasted like satay ....Served with the oil rice, their taste are working in well......The meat is still kept with its juice , so it's easy to be chewed ... so I should recommend to whom love mutton.......

BBQ Chicken Wings (RM 15++)

For me, it's a normal dish ........ we can choose to order this when we have long time chat at there..... The chicken wings is marinated with kunyit , i think and others..... Quite surprisingly , it is well cooked as the meat is not dry .....

When bite a piece , you can still taste the juice of the meat and the flavour is going around your mouth till you would like to have second bite. The fries is just similar with the Nandos , some people not prefer this type of fries but it's ok for me......

Hot Latte (RM 7.00++)

It comes with some flavours like hazelnuts, almond......but i chose hazelnut......
The latte is being served with a piece of peanut bar ........quite special for me ....it's a fusion of Asian and Western gourmet....
The first sip is sweet and when continued drinking....the mouth is slowly filled with the aroma of hazelnut........It's tasty , not so bitter, not so sweet , just perfect for me....plus with a bite of the peanut bar, it gave me a special taste......that taste of coffee can be well blend with the taste of the peanut bar.......

Barley Lime( RM4.50++)

It's a refreshing drink for hot day .... Barley plus lime ....sure can cool us down....It's a popular drink in Bumbu Bali too.......

These are a few snapshots from Bumbu Bali ..... it;s really a relaxing place to dine, if not packed with people.....

Relaxing atmosphere, delicious food, and good service........plus gained many good reviews...
Should have a try ......
